Hawkins County man completes Appalachian Trail

A Hawkins District man has completed the Appalachian Way, a 2,200-mile experience that investigates 14 states from Georgia to Maine. Charles Grubb finished the surprising achievement at his 56th birthday festivity party, and he started his outing in 2012.

"It was a dream of mine to climb the Appalachian Way," Grubb said in a social event with WJHL News. "I'm appreciative of the prompt that I had the choice to achieve my goal."

Grubb climbed the way in segments commonly through 11 years. He said that the most dangerous piece of the trip was the environment.

"I went through the four seasons in general, and I experienced everything from insane power and tenacity to snow and ice," Grubb said. "Regardless, the most reimbursing piece of the excursion was the people I met on the way. I made such huge buddies, and I figured out such a massive total about myself."
